I am a Full
Professor of the Computer Science Department at the University
Simón
Bolívar, Caracas, Venezuela. I am part of the
DataBase group and
conduct my research on Query Rewriting, Optimization and Evaluation in
Emerging technologies. I have been an Assistant Researcher at the
Institute of Advanced Computer Studies at the University of Maryland
(UMIACS) (1995-1999) and a Visitor Professor at Universidad Politecnica
de Catalayna and Universidad de la
Laguna.
Also, I have
been a Visitor Researcher
at the University of
Maryland (UMIACS) between 2000 and 2010, where I work with
Dr. Louiqa Raschid. I
have participated in

international
projects supported
by NFS (USA), AECI (Spain) and CNRS (France). My research interests
are Query Rewriting, Optimization and Efficient Query engines in
Emerging
infrastructures particularly the Semantic Web, Semantic Grid and Linked
Data;
also Resource discovery, service selection and composition techniques
are among my interests. So far, I has advised five PhD students and
more than
45 master and undergraduate students. I has published more than
50 papers on International
Conferences and Journals of the Database and The Semantic Web
areas. My publications are on TPLP, AAAI, IJCAI, SIGMOD, EDBT,
ISWC, ESWC, CoopIs, WebDB,
ICDE, ODBASE, DILS, DEXA, GLOBE, JBCB and SIGMOD RECORDS. I have been reviewer of: ICDE, VLDB, IEEE
TKDE, DKE, CooPIS OTM, SIGMOD, ACM Survey; additionally, I have
been Accompanying
Professor at OTM Academic (2009-2010), Chair of
RED 2010 and participated in the Program
Committee of several International Conferences.
